Today, I want to share that I have made the difficult decision not to seek re-election to the Waterville City Council.

Serving the people of Ward 2 since being sworn into office in 2019 has been one of the greatest honors and privileges of my life. From the special election that first allowed me to serve to every election that followed, you placed your trust in me, and I will never take that for granted.

To every resident who voted for me, supported me, challenged me, encouraged me, or believed in me ❤️ thank you. Your trust allowed me to advocate for our community, make tough decisions, and work every day to make Waterville a better place. I am truly grateful.

I also want to express my sincere gratitude to every City Council member and every mayor I have had the privilege of serving alongside over the years. Each of you has helped shape my growth as a leader. We didn’t always agree, but we always shared a commitment to serving our community, and I have learned something from every one of you. Thank you for your partnership, your mentorship, your friendship, and your dedication to the City of Waterville.

This decision was not an easy one. My daughters are entering one of the most important years of high school, and I want to be fully present for them during this season of their lives. Family has always been at the center of why I serve, and right now they need me most.

While my time on the City Council is coming to an end, my commitment to public service is not. I will continue serving our community in the Maine House of Representatives, and I humbly ask for your continued support as I seek re-election so I can continue fighting for the people of Waterville at the state level.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for allowing me to serve this incredible city. It has truly been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I will always be proud to have represented Ward 2, and I look forward to continuing to serve our community in a different capacity.

It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of former Waterville Assistant City Manager Bill Post, who passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with ALS.

Many staff, elected officials, and residents had the opportunity to work alongside Bill during his years of service to the City of Waterville. Throughout his distinguished career in local government, Bill exemplified the very best of public service. He brought professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to helping communities thrive. More importantly, he treated people with kindness, respect, and empathy, leaving a lasting impression on those who worked with him.

Bill was known as a thoughtful leader, trusted mentor, and dedicated public servant. Those who knew Bill will remember not only his contributions to municipal government, but also his deep love for his family and the pride he took in their accomplishments. His legacy is reflected in the many lives he touched, the colleagues he mentored, and the communities he helped strengthen throughout his career.

On behalf of the City of Waterville, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Bill's wife, children, family, friends, former colleagues, and all who are mourning his loss. Please keep the Post family in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Congratulations, Carla and the Waterville Area Soup Kitchen crew!!!

We’re proud to celebrate the incredible individuals who make Kennebec County a stronger, more caring community.

Today’s Community Hero is Carla Caron, Executive Director of the Waterville Area Soup Kitchen

Reason: Carla assembled a dedicated and extensive team of volunteers from the ground up, starting during COVID. Through her leadership at the Waterville Area Soup Kitchen, which now serves hundreds of area residents each week and provides resources beyond meals, she has created a lasting impact. She is an inspiration.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for our area. Hot temperatures and high humidity can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses if precautions aren’t taken.

Us at Waterville Professional Firefighters Local 1608 encourages everyone to take a few simple steps to stay safe:

- Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

- Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.

- Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the afternoon.

- Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to the heat.

- Make sure pets have access to fresh water and shade, and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, has a high body temperature, or stops sweating, call 911 immediately.

Please help keep yourselves, your families, and your neighbors safe by taking the heat seriously.

It’s finally open 👏🏽👏🏽

It ended up being a little later than 7PM, but the Ticonic Bridge is now open in both directions! Great news for everyone in Waterville and Winslow and all who travel through the area!
