While there's no direct entry for "250 Years in Waterville, Maine" this week, it's a great opportunity to share the free historical resources available online through the Maine State Archives. They have more interesting bits of Maine history stored on their shelves than we could ever hope to house in our building. Worth the trip if you explore the State's past!

The Community Collaborative event will bring together many in our community, including the Waterville Public Library! This is a fantastic time to learn about the resource organizations available in our area, for help with housing, healthcare, food, job searches, and so many more.
This event is free and open to all! Food is being provided, also free of charge.

This September, Waterville Public Library invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month and discover how a library card can hit all the right notes, no matter what your tastes are.

A library card with provides you the ability to take home some of our ever-growing and evolving physical collection. You'll also get access to all our digital offerings: cloudLibrary for e-books and e-audiobooks, ComicsPlus for a broad range of comic books, Mango Languages to learn any of 70+ languages, and the Digital Maine Library for information and education.

Starting Tuesday, September 1, 2026
Due to necessary repairs, there will be elevator disruptions on the 4th floor starting on September 1st. The Large Print Room and Local History Room will still be accessible via the Grand Staircase on the 1st floor, behind the Information Desk.
If the stairs are not a viable option for you, library staff will be available to assist with accessing those collections during this time.

Slight correction: Access via both the elevator and the main stairs will be restricted.

Start September with a cheesy way to keep your place while reading with this Crafternoon, a "Pizza Bookmark" on Tuesday, 9/1! Come to the Children's Room between 2:30 and 4PM to make this craft with Library staff.

Waterville Public Library will be closed next Monday, September 7, 2026, for Labor Day. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

We have something different this week for our Adult/Teen Grab & Go Craft Kit!!! We've set up a Make Your Own Creature Kit station in the Fireplace room. Get a bag, pick your fabric pieces, accessories, eyes, thread, and design your very own weird creature plush! Let your imagination run wild!

This will be available today (Friday 8/28) until 5pm. If there are leftovers, they'll be available tomorrow (8/29) starting at 10am while supplies last. If you have questions or want to make sure that we still have kits available, call the Library at (207) 872-5433.
