We are saddened to hear the news of another firefighter Line of Duty Death.

Boston Fire Department FF Robert “Bobby” Kilduff of Rescue Company 2, fell from the 3rd story while battling a building fire last night. He was a Marine veteran and a 24 year veteran of the Boston Fire Department.

Emergency services both here in Maine and in New England have endured several LODDs in the past two weeks. This Memorial Day, while we remember those who we have lost in the military, please also remember those who gave all in police, fire and EMS. We will remember the fallen and continue the important work of serving and protecting those who call upon us.

Today, FF Andrew Cross' family, friends and fellow firefighters are on our minds and in our hearts while they hold his funeral service.

While our hearts are heavy, we are one big family in this line of work. We are proud to have committed an ambulance and a crew to the Town of Morrill during the funeral services.

Rest easy, FF Cross. We have the watch from here.

It is National EMS Week 2026!!

This year's theme is: Improving Outcomes, Together.

Here in Waterville we strive to gain efficiencies where they are present to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. Whether it is through our Continuous Quality Improvement Program or ongoing education and training, we want our clinical decision making to be part of best practices in emergency medicine.

Our mission statement, PRIDE IN DUTY, drives our desire to perform at our best in every situation. We want to get to the emergency timely and deliver top-notch care to our patients.

We appreciate the public's support for our EMS program while we hit important clinical benchmarks everyday. Notably (to name a few), our 5 min average response times; 55% Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) rate in cardiac arrests; 100% of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and stroke are recognized with early ER notification. All of these produce better clinical outcomes for the citizens and visitors of Waterville.

Happy EMS Week to our EMS clinicians! Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed!

Our hearts are heavy once again this week as we mourn the loss of a firefighter. We will come together, we will honor and we will remember their sacrifice. It is our duty to do so.

“What separates us from the chaos is our ability to mourn people we've never met.”
—David Levithan
