In accordance with Army Directive 2026‑17, all Watervliet Arsenal’s social media pages will be deactivating Wednesday, August 5, 2026. We are proud of the stories we’ve shared and the thousands of followers who have supported our workforce. While we will no longer share updates or highlight workforce achievements on these platforms, our mission and the exceptional work of our teammates continue.

Our public website, https://www.wva.army.mil remains a source for updated news stories and information and will be expanded in the future to offer more news on the happenings across Watervliet Arsenal.

In addition to the website, the Digital Visual Information Distribution System (DVIDS) site will serve as the main hub for Watervliet Arsenal photos, articles, and videos. You can access all WVA‑related content by visiting: https://www.dvidshub.net/unit/WVA

COMING SOON: We also ask that you download the My Army Post App (MAPA) which will be a future source for gate closures, weather alerts, and other installation resources. We are in the process of getting WVA added to the app.

This week, we had the distinct honor in joining our community in celebrating the life and service of Clark “Bill” Henry Jr. at the Albany County Honor a Veteran ceremony held at the Sheehy-Palmer VFW post in Albany.

Henry served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1966 specializing in anti-submarine operations. Most notably, he participated aboard the USS Wasp during the Cuban missile crisis where he worked detecting enemy submarines during the naval quarantine of the nation island.

Following his military service, Henry served as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years and then as a crossing guard during retirement. Known as the “Mayor of Ramsey Place”, Henry’s sense of duty to serve his community and those in it was a life-long passion.

We thank the Henry family for sharing Bill’s remarkable life of service with our community.

We were honored to "welcome aboard" Sailors from the USS Marinette LCS 25 today to explore cannon and mortar production here today. The USS Marinette is in the capital district to make a port call as part of the celebrations across the nation.

The USS Marinette is a Freedom-class LIttoral Combat Ship designed for speed, agility and operations in near-shore environments.

America's cannon and mortar factory and the U.S. Navy have a shared history with Watervliet Arsenal being the former home of the development and production of the massive 16-inch guns that made the Navy's battleships a force to be reckoned with throughout the 20th century.
