🚧Construction Zone Safety Reminder 🚧

We all know Highway 85 is one of the most heavily traveled roads in our county, and once construction is complete, the four lane expansion will be a tremendous improvement for everyone who relies on it. Until then, drivers need to slow down and stay alert through the construction area.

This past weekend, in just a matter of hours, our deputies issued multiple citations for speeding in the active work zone, including one driver traveling 38 mph over the posted speed limit. These speeds are extremely dangerous in an area with narrowed lanes, shifting traffic patterns, and crews working just feet away.

With summer construction season underway, motorists are reminded to obey posted speed limits, pay attention to signage, and watch for workers and equipment.

Everyone plays a role in keeping our road crews – and each other- safe.

🚫 Scam Alert: Caller Pretending to Be Law Enforcement
We’ve received reports of an individual calling residents, claiming to be a law enforcement officer from the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office. The caller provides a name and badge number and then tells the person they must send money immediately or a warrant will be issued for their arrest.
These calls are fake.
