Please remember to thank all of your first responders for all of the hard work and dedication they put in! Last night our guys along with Troy, Elwood, and St.Joe hwy patrol received a not so normal call and spent a few hours late last night and early in the morning working together to try to find the scene, so please remember if you see any first responders from here or anywhere make sure they know they are appreciated!

NOTICE: Today at 10:00 AM a large-scale TRAINING EXERCISE will take place at the Wathena City Park, involving Emergency Personnel and Emergency Equipment. During this TRAINING EXERCISE you may hear emergency sirens and observe emergency equipment responding. Again, this will be a TRAINING EXERCISE. During the month of February, Weise Fire came over to show us an amazing product that will be very beneficial when it comes to fires in certain situations.

In January the training officer set up an obstacle course in one of the bay areas. For this obstacle course, the lights were all off like it would be if they were in an actual house fire. They had to go in with a partner and climb over a set of stairs, connect a hose that was disconnected, then at the end they came across a downed person they had to pull out to complete. This whole team did an amazing job during this training and are ready to keep each other safe if they have to make entry in a burning building.

In December the fire department with the help of a future recruit made sure Santa was able to get to main street safely for all the kids.

Durning the month of October we had a few out sick so that month the guys that were able to make it just did routine checks on the trucks. Once everyone was able to return in November we did a training on vehicle extrication.
