Today, we were proud to open our doors and welcome members of the community for walkthroughs of our new Rochester Recovery and Wellness Clinic.

It was a meaningful opportunity to share our space, introduce local services and supports that will be available within it, and connect with the people and partners who help make recovery possible throughout our community. This momentous day was made that much more meaningful because today is International Recovery Day; a fitting reminder of why spaces like this, and the services provided within them, matter so much.

A special thank you to DePaul and all those involved with the True North Development for their partnership and support, and to everyone who joined us today. We’re grateful to continue supporting spaces where people can find connection, support, and hope.

Recovery happens together. đź’š

We are incredibly proud to see our President & CEO, Jennifer Carlson, recognized as a 2026 ATHENA Leadership Award honoree.

For more than three decades, Jen’s leadership has helped shape FLACRA, strengthen communities across the Finger Lakes, and create opportunities for countless others to lead, grow, and make an impact.

Congratulations, Jen! This recognition is so well deserved, and we are proud to celebrate you! đź’š

2026 ATHENA SPOTLIGHT: JENNIFER CARLSON

For Jennifer Carlson, leadership is about more than leading an organization. It’s about seeing a need, bringing people together and finding a way forward.

As President & CEO of Finger Lakes Area Counseling & Recovery Agency (FLACRA), Jennifer has spent more than three decades working to expand access to behavioral health services, substance use disorder treatment, housing, recovery supports and other resources that help individuals and families build healthier, more stable lives.

Her leadership has helped FLACRA grow in both scope and impact, while bringing together healthcare providers, schools, law enforcement, government agencies and community organizations to tackle some of the region’s most complex challenges.

From helping develop a 24-hour regional crisis response team during the opioid epidemic to building a large peer-led recovery model, Jennifer has consistently looked for innovative ways to turn community needs into meaningful action.

But Jennifer’s impact extends well beyond FLACRA.

She has helped develop hundreds of affordable housing units throughout the region and currently serves as Chair of the Continuum of Care Board for the Finger Lakes region, helping guide efforts to address homelessness and expand access to housing and supportive services. She also serves on community boards and committees and continues to advocate for people whose voices are too often unheard.

And perhaps one of the most important parts of Jennifer’s leadership is what she does for the people coming behind her.

Mentoring and supporting women leaders has been a cornerstone of her career.

She has helped women move into supervisory, management and executive roles, encouraging them to pursue opportunities, take on new challenges and recognize their own potential.

For Jennifer, success isn't simply about what she accomplishes herself. It’s about creating opportunities for others to succeed — and watching those women go on to mentor and support the next generation of leaders.

Join us in celebrating Jennifer Carlson, a 2026 ATHENA Leadership Award honoree, at the 41st Ontario County ATHENA Awards on November 5.
