The 2026 Watseka Family Festival is finally here!

As we welcome attendees to Legion Park for this year’s festival, the Watseka Police Department will be utilizing our Drone Unit and Mobile Surveillance Trailer to provide an additional perspective and support event safety.

Our drone operators will be assisting with situational awareness throughout the event, helping our officers monitor the park and respond to any needs that may arise.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the park this weekend! Stay safe, have fun, and thank you for supporting our community!

🚨Update 7/20/2026: Mr. Boyer has been located and is safe. Thank you to everyone who assisted law enforcement and his family in locating him.

🚨MISSING PERSON: Thomas L. Boyer - Located🚨

The Watseka Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating 43-year-old Thomas L. Boyer, who was reported missing on July 13, 2026. Mr. Boyer was last seen on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at approximately 5 p.m. in Watseka. Mr. Boyer is described as 6’4” tall, weighing 170 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. If you have seen Mr. Boyer or have any information regarding his whereabouts, please contact the Watseka Police Department at 815-432-2433.

🚨🚨 Please avoid the south side of town so emergency crews can operate freely, assist those in need, and assess damage. There are multiple streets that are impassable and currently too many cars driving through the area. 🚨🚨

Today, Chief Starkey had the honor of visiting GRS to celebrate a group of incredible students who reached a milestone of 80 Accelerated Reader points. To recognize their dedication to literacy, these students earned a special "Reading to a Hometown Hero" incentive. Chief Starkey spent the morning listening to these talented young readers share their favorite books, including “The Day the Crayons Quit” and “The Big Cheese.” Congratulations on your achievements and keep up the good work!

The Watseka Police Department mourns yesterday’s loss of a Chicago Police Officer.

Our deepest condolences are with the officer’s family, friends, and the entire Chicago Police Department.

And please pray for the officer’s partner, who was seriously injured and is fighting for their life.

This Friday, April 24, the Watseka Police and Fire Departments, along with Iroquois Memorial Hospital and the Iroquois County Coroner’s Office will be partnering with Watseka High School to help educate our students on the dangers of impaired and distracted driving this prom season. At 10 a.m. there will be a mock crash simulation in front of the high school. This is only a drill; however, there will be increased emergency activity in the area. Please be alert. Thank you for your cooperation and thank you to all the first responders working together to help bring our children home safely every day.
