After claiming “no bang for the buck” Governor Brown has ended the State’s EZ program. The City of Watsonville was one of over 40 economically struggling areas around California that offered special tax credits for businesses. Watsonville’s program was award winning and used by many of our small to large businesses and corporations. Now what? With a strong push from Watsonville’s own Assemblymember Luis Alejo, the Governor’s office has introduced a program that Watsonville and hundreds of other local governments and businesses in California are now eligible for various hiring credits, sales-tax exemptions, and tax credits that should serve to attract or retain.
