CAB ensures over 12,000 people annually in Santa Cruz County & the Pajaro Valley receive the tools & skills they need for employment & self-sufficiency. COMMUNITY ACTION BOARD OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY (CAB)

In the 2019-2020 fiscal year, CAB programs assisted nearly 9,000 low-income people with emergency, sustaining or self-sufficiency services, as well as serving an additional 7,147 requests for inf

ormation and referral or brief services. Over 74% of CAB’s clients have a family income of less than 100% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and 25% are less than 150% of the Guidelines.

We are so honored to have such dedicated community members and even more honored to recognize their dedication to our mission! Former CAB employee and longtime volunteer, AMY LOCKS, has been recognized through the national Community Action Agency and we couldn't be prouder! Amy played a foundational role in forming CAB's Santa Cruz County Immigration Project, we are so grateful for everything she's done for CAB and the community. Congratulations to Amy and we cannot thank her enough for her 40 years of service here with the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County Inc.🌟

Join us for a free community workshop to learn how to monitor and verify immigration enforcement activity and safely protect civil liberties in our neighborhoods. The workshop will be co-sponsored by YARR (Your Allied Rapid Response) and DRSC (Davenport Resource Service Center).

This training will take place in Davenport on September 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. To register, use the link on this flyer or scan the QR code.

For our final week of August, we ended our month by welcoming Seamus Mckeon, representative from Congressman Jimmy Panetta’s Washington, D.C. office. It’s always a pleasure to share the wealth of services and programs available through CAB and talk about the work happening across our community. Members of our team also had the opportunity to join a grant writing workshop led by Eduardo Gonzalez from the Rural Prosperity Center, walking away with new tools and strategies to put into practice. Thank you to Seamus and Eduardo for spending time with the CAB-ISTA community. Always a pleasure to learn from our people and share with our people! 💚

Para nuestra última semana de agosto, concluimos nuestro mes dando la bienvenida a Seamus McKeon, representante de la oficina del congresista Jimmy Panetta en Washington D. C. Siempre es un placer compartir nuestros servicios y programas disponibles a través de CAB y hablar sobre el trabajo que se realiza en nuestra comunidad. Thank you to our community partners for coming together to bring a Know Your Rights presentation to the City of Soledad.

When community organizations come together, we can create spaces where people feel informed, empowered, and supported, especially during challenging times.

We’re grateful to continue working alongside Catholic Charities, UFW Foundation, Watsonville Law Center, and Youth Alliance, to bring more meaningful events, educational opportunities, and resources to communities across the north Central Coast.

Program Highlight 🤩 In August, CAB's Davenport Resource Service Center distributed backpacks to children and teens (pre-K through 12th grade). This year, 37 backpacks and back-to-school supplies were distributed. This distribution was made possible through a partnership with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education (COE) program.

Logros del programa 🤩 En agosto, CAB's Centro de Servicios y Recursos de Davenport distribuyó mochilas a niños y adolescentes (desde preescolar hasta el 12.º grado). Este año, se entregaron 37 mochilas y útiles escolares para el regreso a clases. Esta distribución fue posible gracias a una colaboración con el programa de la Oficina de Educación del Condado de Santa Cruz (COE).
