PROCLAMATION

The Hardee County Board of County Commissioners was proud to recognize May 17–23, 2026, as Emergency Medical Services Week in Hardee County at their recent meeting.

Emergency medical services are a vital part of protecting the health and safety of our community. Every day, the dedicated members of Hardee County Fire Rescue stand ready 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide lifesaving care when our residents need it most.

Our EMS system is built on teamwork, including firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, law enforcement partners, healthcare professionals, and many others who work together to deliver critical care during emergencies.

Through thousands of hours of training, continuing education, and hands-on experience, these professionals remain prepared to respond with skill and compassion during some of life’s most difficult moments.

The Board extends its appreciation to our EMS providers for their dedication, service, and commitment to the residents and visitors of Hardee County.

Thank you, Hardee County Fire Rescue , for always answering the call.

This workshop is an opportunity for residents to hear the survey results, ask questions, and provide input as the County explores future possibilities for the property and its role in our community.

PUBLIC NOTICE | PROJECT UPDATE

U.S. 17 (S.R. 35) Safety Improvements from REA Road to S.R. 62 🚦

HARDEE COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) continues progress on the U.S. 17 (S.R. 35) safety improvement project from REA Road to S.R. 62 in Hardee County. The project is currently approximately 53% complete as crews continue roadway and signal improvements along the corridor.

RECENT PROJECT ACTIVITY
• Flashing beacons are now operating on temporary service during the new traffic signal burn-in period.
• Lighting installation from REA Road to Maxwell Drive has been completed.

UPCOMING WORK ACTIVITIES
• Tuesday May 26: Overnight installation of span wires project wide. Minor delays are possible.
• Monday June 1: Traffic signal cable installation is scheduled to begin.
• Monday June 8: Widening and paving operations at the U.S. 17 and S.R. 62 intersection are expected to begin and continue concurrently.

PROJECT INFORMATION
• FDOT Investment: $2,078,978.63
• Contract Duration: 190 Days
• Estimated Completion: September 17, 2026

Motorists are encouraged to use caution, remain alert for changing traffic patterns, and watch for crews and equipment working throughout the corridor.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – NIGHTTIME TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION 🚦

HARDEE COUNTY, Fla. – As of Tuesday, May 26, 2026, beginning at 8:00 PM.
the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will conduct overnight traffic signal installation work at the intersection of U.S. 17 (S.R. 35) and State Road 62 on
Law enforcement officers will be on site to assist with traffic control and direct motorists safely through the intersection during the installation process.

Motorists are encouraged to:
• Use alternate routes when possible
• Follow directions from law enforcement and traffic control personnel
• Use caution while traveling through the work zone

Please expect possible delays and changing traffic patterns throughout the evening as crews complete this important safety improvement project.

Hardee County is accepting applications for financial hardship exemptions on:

• Solid Waste Disposal Assessment
• Fire Rescue Assessment

Approved applicants may be exempt from these current year special assessments.
Solid waste collection fees still apply if applicable.

Deadline: May 31, 2026
• Applications accepted May 1–May 31 only
• Incomplete applications will not be accepted
• Late submissions will not be accepted
