This post feels impossible to write.
There are losses that leave you searching for the right words, only to realize they simply don’t exist. Today, with incredibly heavy hearts, we share the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and forever member of the Aeromed family, Laurie Duppenthaler.
For the last five years, Laurie fought ovarian cancer with a strength, determination, and resilience that can only be described as extraordinary. She was told what the statistics said. She was told what the odds were. And true to who Laurie was, she refused to let anyone else define her story.
She fought.
Not just through treatments, surgeries, setbacks, and uncertainty, but through every challenge with a fierce spirit and a stubborn determination to keep living life on her terms.
But the truth is, cancer is not what we will remember.
We will remember Laurie.
We will remember the laughter that could fill a room. The way she made people feel welcome. The way she could make even the hardest day a little lighter with her humor, honesty, and unmistakable personality. We will remember her strength, her compassion, her fierce loyalty, and her ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved.
Laurie was the kind of person who left an imprint wherever she went. Her impact reached far beyond Aeromed. It lives within the countless patients she cared for, the coworkers who became family, the friends who cherished her, and the many lives she touched throughout her career and journey. The number of people mourning this loss today is impossible to measure, and it speaks volumes about the remarkable person she was.
Our hearts are broken for her family, her friends, her Aeromed family, EMS partners, her patients, and everyone fortunate enough to know and love her.
The world feels a little dimmer today without Laurie in it.
As we grieve this unimaginable loss, we encourage everyone who knew her to share a story, tell a joke she would have appreciated, and remember her for the incredible woman she was; not for the illness she carried, but for the light she brought into the lives of others.
Thank you, Laurie, for the laughter, the friendship, the strength, and the example you set for all of us. Thank you for showing us what courage looks like. Thank you for reminding us to keep moving forward, even when life is hard.
We will miss you more than words could ever express.
And because there is no more fitting way to close than with the words Laurie loved most:
“It’s all good, baby baby.”
