We had the pleasure to meet with State Senator Darby Hills and Wauconda Police Department after the crash into our station a couple of months ago. We collected data and information from various accidents and incidents over the past several years which was the forwarded to IDOT through Senator Hills. Below is the response and action plan from IDOT and Senator Hills!
We also began demolition on the affected areas today!
Keeping our roads safe means listening to our first responders and taking action.
After a recent crash on Barrington Road near IL-176 in Wauconda, I met with the Wauconda Fire District and Wauconda Police Department to discuss the troubling pattern of crashes at this location.
I contacted IDOT to request a safety study, and I’m pleased to share that several improvements are now moving forward:
• Larger “Turn” and “Advisory Speed 10 MPH” signs
• Three additional chevron signs near the intersection
• Flags on all signs to increase visibility
• A barrier warrant analysis of the roadway
Fortunately, no first responders were injured in the recent crash. I appreciate the Wauconda Fire District and Wauconda Police Department for advocating for these improvements. When we work together, we can make our roads safer for everyone.
