Edit - The work will continue into the early afternoon. Our Public Works staff hopes to wrap up and re-open completely by 3 pm today, 8/12.

Traffic Alert - Rt. 176 will be reduced to one lane this morning (8/12) at the Kimball channel bridge for Village utility work. Flaggers will direct traffic through the area.

Join the Mayor for Coffee from 8:00–9:00 a.m. If the conversation is flowing, he may stay a bit longer—but if no one stops by, he’ll wrap up at 9:00 a.m.

Please note the following temporary road closures Saturday and Sunday morning for the safety of participants in the Kids and Adult Wauconda Triathlons.

Road Closures this weekend - In order to facilitate a safe Wauconda Triathlons course and in cooperation with the Village of Wauconda and Wauconda Police Department the following roads will be temporarily closed this weekend July 25 and 26. Please be aware of bicyclists and runners during these times.

SATURDAY 7/25: The following roads will be closed from 7:45 am – 10:00 am.
::: New this year- Main Street will be closed from 7:45 am-9 am from Lewis to Bonner.
::: East bound lane of Bonner from Main Street/Old Rand Road to Garland
::: Garland Road from Bonner Road to Main Street.

SUNDAY 7/26: The following roads will be closed from 6:00 am – 11:00 am.
::: Main Street from Slocum Lake Road to Bonner Road
::: Residents who live in Library Hill and Regency Court will be asked to exit north on Main
to Bonner.

New Fireworks Date - September 6, 2026

The annual BIG BANG fireworks show has been rescheduled to September 6, 2026 at dusk at Cook Park. Join us the Sunday night before Labor Day to give summer a spectacular sendoff.

New Fireworks Date TBD

Village staff is working with the fireworks vendor to secure a new date for the fireworks as soon as possible. The Village is seeking a date in early September, but that could be changed based on availability of the fireworks company, Cook Park, and Village and Fire District staff and volunteers. The date will be shared here, on the website and in the quarterly newsletter when it is confirmed.

We understand that our Big Bangs fireworks show is a fun, family-oriented event for which residents plan in advance. We appreciate your patience and look forward to the seeing you at the rescheduled event.

🎆 Wauconda Fireworks Postponed 🎆

Tonight’s fireworks show has been postponed due to heavy rain, flooding at Cook Park, and continued weather concerns.

Things to Know:

📅 A new date has not yet been set. We’re working with the fireworks company and will share it once confirmed.

🚫 The rescheduled date will NOT be Sunday, July 5.

🌧️ About 2.5 inches of rain flooded the launch area and spectator area.

🤔Every contingency plan was considered, however, the possibility of more rain will make setup impossible.

🎇The product was not damaged, and was protected from the rain.
