On Thursday, 8-16-12, at approximately 9:08 a.m. the Waukee Police received a report from a 5th grade girl that she was waiting for her bus in the 3300 block of Ashworth Road when a deep purple colored van with three black stripes on the side and tinted windows stopped.

The driver got out of the vehicle and told her to get in his van. The victim ran back toward her home and the van left with no direction of travel known.

The driver was described as a black male approximately 30 years old wearing black shoes, a long gold trench coat, a black hat and black sunglasses with red rims.

"There have been multiple car prowlers in Midwest Mobile Home Court, Windfield Apartments and other areas. All vehicles were unlocked. Lock your vehicle and take out any important items inside the vehicle.

Also be sure garage doors are closed before going to bed for the evening."
