Statement from the American Legion of Iowa Commander

On behalf of the American Legion Department of Iowa and our members across the state, we mourn the heartbreaking loss of two Iowa National Guardsmen who gave their lives in service to our nation.

These brave soldiers answered the call to duty with honor and courage, knowing the risks, yet committed to protecting the freedoms we hold dear. Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder that freedom is not free, and that even today, Iowans continue to stand watch on distant shores in defense of liberty.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families, loved ones, and fellow service members of the fallen. No words can ease your grief, but please know that the American Legion family stands with you in prayer, gratitude, and unwavering support. We also lift up the wounded soldiers in our thoughts, wishing them strength and a full recovery.

The American Legion remains steadfast in honoring the legacy of those who serve and in supporting our National Guard members and their families—today and always. May these fallen heroes never be forgotten, and may their service inspire us to live worthy of their sacrifice.

We just completed the 16th year of Christmas for military and veterans families. A huge thank you to the community support and generosity. This would not be possible without you. I'm positive there will be lots of smiling faces Christmas morning.

Hey, anyone looking for something to do today can come out to the Waukee Veterans Hall and help wrap gifts for Veterans families. Wrapping starts at 0900. If you want to shop be at hall at 0830. Veterans Hall is located at 410 6th St, Waukee, IA.
