Happy Independence Day, Waukegan!

It's a beautiful, sunny day with a fresh breeze at Waukegan Municipal Beach! Families are already enjoying the beach, setting up grills, and making the most of the holiday.

Residents with a Waukegan City Vehicle Sticker park at the beach for FREE. Holiday parking passes are available at the beach entrance for $30 per vehicle for those without a City Vehicle Sticker. If you arrive on foot, by bike, or are dropped off at the entrance, there is NO admission fee.

Looking for free parking? FREE parking is available at the Metra station parking lots, as well as the downtown municipal parking lots.

The beach offers the best view of tonight's fireworks over Lake Michigan, but you'll also have fantastic views from Waukegan Harbor, the Waukegan Metra Station, and throughout downtown Waukegan. No matter where you choose to celebrate, we hope you enjoy a great Independence Day with family and friends.

Fireworks begin at 9:30PM.

As a reminder, leave the fireworks to the professionals. Personal fireworks are illegal in Waukegan and throughout Illinois. Enjoy the show, have fun, stay safe, and support our local businesses!

Today, the Waukegan High School Student Services Department visited Waukegan City Hall for an educational tour.

During the visit, staff members including counselors, social workers, psychologists, college and career managers, and the Assistant Principal of Student Services learned more about City Hall departments and how local government serves the community.

The visit helped strengthen the connection between Waukegan High School and the City of Waukegan by highlighting how community needs are addressed, and how both institutions can work together to better support and serve Waukegan students.
