A house is more than just walls and a roof — it’s safety, stability, dignity, and peace of mind. We’re proud to see the impact the City of Waukegan’s Housing Rehabilitation Program is making in our community.

With support from HUD, IHDA, and the City of Waukegan, over $1.5 million was invested into helping homeowners make critical home improvements this past year. This work is changing lives, one home at a time.

It’s a time to recognize how investments in housing rehabilitation, neighborhood improvements, accessibility, and public services directly improve the quality of life for residents—especially those with the greatest needs. Community Development Month also encourages residents, local leaders, and partners to come together, share their voices, and stay engaged in shaping the future of their neighborhoods.

The City of Waukegan CDBG Program, in partnership with the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), is excited to announce GRANT FUNDING AVAILABLE for essential home repairs!

If you need support making your home safer, more accessible, or structurally sound, this program is for YOU — and at NO COST to eligible homeowners.

🔧 Eligible Improvements Include:
• Accessibility Projects (ramps, lifts, bathrooms, etc.)
• Roof Only Projects
• Full Rehab Projects

This grant program helps Waukegan residents create safer, long-lasting, more sustainable homes for their families and community.
