Today, on Indigenous Peoples' Day, we reflect on the powerful history shared by Aaron Bird Bear (Mandan, Hidatsa, and Diné) during his recent visit to the Library. His insights into the First Nations of Wisconsin and the lasting impacts of boarding schools and federal policies that sought to criminalize and erase Indigenous languages and cultures shed important light on histories that should never be forgotten.
