In Washington D.C. the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW and other VSOs are putting the heat on Congress.

On Friday, with opposition mounting, the House canceled a vote on a VA overhaul bill. The work is far from finished and we need to keep the pressure on our legislators.

The VFW strongly opposes provisions within H.R.9237 / S.4744, Take Care of America’s Veterans Act, that would reduce future veterans’ disability compensation to pay for other veteran programs. While the VFW supports many of the bill’s underlying goals, we cannot support financing those priorities by reducing earned benefits for future disabled veterans.

It is unconscionable that our Congress would ask Veterans to pay for the benefits that they earned. These benefits weren’t a gift to service members, they were earned in blood and sacrifice on battlefields throughout the world.

🚨Action Alert

Today’s vote on the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act didn’t move forward, but the stakes for veterans remain.

Continue contacting members of Congress and tell them to back off veterans’ earned benefits and Honor the Contract: https://votervoice.net/VFW/Campaigns/138035/Respond
