ACAP Inc. Waukesha

ACAP Inc. Waukesha ACAP is a partnership of people who have disabilities and a passion to demonstrate their abilities in the community around them.

ACAP is not merely an assemblage of staff and members, but people coming together to work, learn, adapt, and serve the community. We endeavor to build up the larger community and in so doing, discover our valued place within it.

A group of us have been volunteering at Eras Senior Network this session. Eras Senior Network is a nonprofit organization that works to empower seniors and engage generations. Their programs reduce isolation for seniors and mobilize volunteers to make important contributions to community needs. We've been making and mailing birthday cards that Eras sends to their wonderful clients and volunteers. Thank you, Eras, for the opportunity to help your cause and we look forward to helping you serve more clients in the future!

🐸 Today, our Wisconsin Wildlife & Rehabilitation class had a ribbiting good time learning all about frogs native to Wisconsin!

We were excited to welcome naturalist David Stokes, who shared fascinating information about different frog species, their habitats, and the important role they play in our environment. The highlight of the day was getting to meet some live frogs up close—and even having the opportunity to hold them!

Thank you, David, for an unforgettable morning of discovery and fun! 🐸💚

Art Links Works Artist Spotlight

Amber has been part of Art Links since she first joined ACAP in 2016. She began by taking pottery classes and later became one of the artisans in Art Links Works.

Amber says her favorite part of the artistic process is intricately glazing clay pieces. Art Links Works instructor, Patty, often simply tells Amber to “do your thing” — a nod to the detailed glaze work that has become Amber’s specialty.

Amber loves creating art that makes people happy. While working on the top piece of a garden sculpture recently, Amber carefully applied a clear glaze and explained that she was doing it so it would “come out shiny and clear.”

Today we celebrate Amber’s creativity, attention to detail, and the joy she brings into the studio every day. Well done, Amber!

Our Healthy Takeout class is in full swing—prepping, slicing, dicing, and mixing! Last week we made a delicious Sausage Veggie Bake, paired with fresh cantaloupe and pineapple for a sweet treat. We packed everything up in to-go containers to enjoy at home later. Great work, everyone!
