The school season is winding down but here’s your reminder that students are back in school and buses are back on the roads after the extended weekend.

Please follow posted speed limits in school zones and remember to stop at least 20 feet from buses with their red lights flashing. Drivers going in either direction must stop for school buses. The only exception is if you are traveling on the other side of a divided road that’s separated by a median or other physical barrier.

THE DOG HAS BEEN LOCATED.

The Waunakee Police Department is seeking public assistance as we investigate a dog bite case that occurred on 5/12/2026 at approximately 4:30pm. The incident occurred on the gravel walking path that connects N. Madison Street to N. Century Avenue. The dog is described as a large white dog with long hair, and was being walked by a tall and slender white female with long dark hair. If you can help us identify the dog and owner, please call (608) 849-4523. Our main concern at this point is verifying the dog's vaccination status for the victim's sake.
