๐Ÿ‚ September Waterfront Homeowner Tip โ€” Shoreline Mowing Pause ๐ŸŒŠ
After Labor Day: No mowing within 30 feet of the shoreline ๐Ÿšซ๐ŸŒฑ

Post-Labor Day is the time to pause mowing within 30 feet of the water. ๐ŸŒพ This protects beneficial weevils ๐Ÿชฒ that help suppress invasive Eurasian watermilfoil and preserves valuable shoreline habitat as we head into fall. ๐Ÿ๐ŸŸ

๐Ÿ“Œ Call to Action: Flag your no-mow zone ๐Ÿšฉ and share this reminder with your landscaping service. ๐Ÿค

Register for our 4 week series Technology: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Begins Tuesday, September 8th at 1pm in the new Business Center. Register at www.waupacarec.com under Programs: Education

Interactive presentations may include cloud storage, scams, AI- understanding and growth, keeping up with technology, deciphering social media apps, storing and using your digital photographs, using two-factor authentication and QR codes, exploring free apps, and how to use health and wellness apps like Epic and My ThedaCare.

First session will begin with: AI, Social Media, and Scams, Oh My!
Technology can help us stay informed, connected, and independent, but it can also create new risks. In this engaging, easy-to-understand 60-minute session, weโ€™ll explore what artificial intelligence is, how it is already showing up in everyday life, and a few useful ways to put it to work.

Weโ€™ll also review the basics of using social media safely and confidently, including privacy settings, recognizing false information, and deciding what not to share. Finally, weโ€™ll examine todayโ€™s most common scams, including fraudulent emails and text messages, impersonation scams, romance scams, fake technical support, and AI-generated voices, photos, and videos.

Participants will leave with practical steps for protecting their accounts, recognizing warning signs, responding when something feels suspicious, and helping friends and family stay safe online. No technical experience is needed. Bring your questions!

With Diane Doersch of WIT: Women in Technology Wisconsin, Inc.
This series will repeat quarterly.

Update: As of 4:00pm 8/26/26, the water levels are at advisory levels. The beach is no longer closed. Please note that many factors contribute to water quality. We are fortunate that our waterways refresh frequently thanks to wind, currents, natural springs, etc.

๐Ÿšจ BEACH CLOSED โ€“ WATER QUALITY NOTICE ๐Ÿšจ

The beach is currently closed due to elevated E. coli and coliform levels.

We are retesting the water and expect to have new results tomorrow. Until further notice, we recommend that the public do not swim at the beach.

We will provide an update as soon as the new test results are available.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
