Register for our 4 week series Technology: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Begins Tuesday, September 8th at 1pm in the new Business Center. Register at www.waupacarec.com under Programs: Education
Interactive presentations may include cloud storage, scams, AI- understanding and growth, keeping up with technology, deciphering social media apps, storing and using your digital photographs, using two-factor authentication and QR codes, exploring free apps, and how to use health and wellness apps like Epic and My ThedaCare.
First session will begin with: AI, Social Media, and Scams, Oh My!
Technology can help us stay informed, connected, and independent, but it can also create new risks. In this engaging, easy-to-understand 60-minute session, weโll explore what artificial intelligence is, how it is already showing up in everyday life, and a few useful ways to put it to work.
Weโll also review the basics of using social media safely and confidently, including privacy settings, recognizing false information, and deciding what not to share. Finally, weโll examine todayโs most common scams, including fraudulent emails and text messages, impersonation scams, romance scams, fake technical support, and AI-generated voices, photos, and videos.
Participants will leave with practical steps for protecting their accounts, recognizing warning signs, responding when something feels suspicious, and helping friends and family stay safe online. No technical experience is needed. Bring your questions!
