PUBLIC NOTICE: Please take a moment to read.
Dear Community,
At Foundations For Living, our goal has always been to help fill the gaps in our community as we are able. We recognize that no single organization can meet every need, which is why we are so grateful for the faithful supporters who stand with us through regular giving, donated supplies, volunteer service, and by stepping up whenever new needs arise.
Our vision continues to be simple: "We continue to be a trusted community resource that empowers individuals to achieve lasting stability."
Recently, our community learned that another local nonprofit is taking a hiatus. We want to acknowledge the important work that organization has done over the years. They have been a valuable resource to many individuals and families, and we are grateful for the impact they have made in our community. As they take this time away, we know their absence will be felt by many.
In recent days, we have already seen an increase in families coming to Foundations For Living for diapers, wipes, hygiene products, and other daily necessities. The need for food, hygiene items, and household essentials has grown significantly, and at the moment we are scheduling assistance appointments into next Thursday.
To help put that need into perspective, the average value of assistance provided by Foundations For Living continues to grow.
- 2026: Households (regardless of size) have received an average of $465 in assistance per visit.
- 2025: The average assistance was $382 for single-person households and $453 for households with two or more people.
These figures do not include the additional value of diapers, wipes, and other infant supplies that many families now require.
As demand continues to rise, we are committed to serving our community as faithfully as possible. At this time, however, we are critically low on hygiene products.
The good news is that we currently have a supply of diapers and wipes available for families with young children. To help us serve everyone fairly and efficiently, we ask that assistance requests continue to be made by appointment through our website or by calling our office.
Because of the increased demand, we encourage families to plan ahead. Please don't wait until your supplies are completely gone before seeking assistance. If you notice you are running low, schedule an appointment as early as possible. While we will always do our best to help, walk-in requests may not be possible when appointments are full.
For those facing an immediate emergency, we do have limited emergency hygiene kits available to help bridge the gap for a day or two. However, receiving a full hygiene package will still require a scheduled appointment.
Our mission remains unchanged:
"We are a Christ-centered organization dedicated to supporting individuals by providing essential resources, emotional support, and guidance to help them build independent and self-sufficient lives."
That mission is only possible because of the dedication of our staff, volunteers, donors, churches, businesses, and community partners. We are committed to serving with compassion and dignity, and we simply ask for your patience and grace as we work to meet a growing number of requests. There will undoubtedly be times when appointments are unavailable, but by planning ahead and working together, we can ensure that more people receive the help they need.
If you would like to help, donations of hygiene products are greatly appreciated and may be dropped off at our office (1421 Churchill St) Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Beginning in September, our office will also be open on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
If you donate shampoo, conditioner, body wash, or similar items, we kindly ask that you bring full-size products rather than travel or hotel-size containers, as these better meet the needs of the families we serve.
Finally, thank you for being such a generous and compassionate community. Your financial gifts, donated items, volunteer hours, and prayers make this ministry possible.
If you're unsure what items to purchase, please know that financial donations often have an even greater impact. Through one of our wholesale partners, we are able to purchase many hygiene items in bulk. For example, while someone may purchase five bottles of body wash at retail, we can often use the same amount of money to purchase an entire case of twelve bottles. Your generosity stretches even further, allowing us to help more families with the same dollars.
Together, we can continue to care for our neighbors and ensure that those facing difficult circumstances are met with hope, compassion, and practical support.
Sincerely,
Bob Adams
