Multiple rounds of storms are possible Monday into Monday night. Strongest storms most likely Monday afternoon and evening during which all severe weather hazards are possible. Storm details are still uncertain, but significant severe weather is possible if conditions align.

Waupaca County Emergency Management would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the New London Public Museum for graciously opening its doors to serve as the home of our Disaster Recovery Center (DRC).

In the aftermath of the recent flooding, partnerships like this make a real difference. By providing a welcoming and accessible location, the museum is helping ensure that residents and businesses impacted by the disaster have a convenient place to receive the assistance and resources they need as they begin the recovery process.

Near-surface wildfire smoke will continue to cycle across the area. Hazardous AQI is expected across much of the region today. People with heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion. The Wisconsin DNR has an Air Quality Advisory in effect until at least noon Friday. Smoke from wildfires to the north has been progressing southward today and will continue to impact the area over the next few days. Air quality and visibility will be impacted. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has issued an Air Quality Advisory due to the air quality impacts.

Update to the potential for heavy rain. Rounds of storms will produce heavy rainfall Wednesday and Wednesday night. Instances of flash flooding could occur, especially if storms move over the same locations multiple times.

Strong to severe storms are possible on Wednesday, especially during the afternoon and evening. Greatest risk from 1 PM to 9 PM. The primary risk will be strong/damaging winds and heavy rainfall that could lead to localized flash flooding. Large hail and an isolated tornado can't be ruled out.

The www.disasterassistance.gov site is now live

Residents and business owners who sustained losses can begin applying for assistance at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) at 800-621-FEMA (3362).

When applying for assistance, make sure:

Your damaged home is your primary residence.

You haven’t received assistance for the same losses from another source, including insurance.

You are able to be reached by FEMA at the contact information you provide in the application.

What information you need to provide when applying:

Your contact information, including email address.

Your address at the time of the disaster and the address where you are now staying.

Your social security number.

Annual household income

A general list of damage and losses.

Banking information, if you choose direct deposit.

For help with your application or to apply by phone, call the FEMA Helpline: 1‑800‑621‑3362

If you use a video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone (CTS), or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.

If you disagree with FEMA’s decision, you may appeal:
Online at DisasterAssistance.gov. In person at a Disaster Recovery Centers, which will be announced in coming days.
Or by mail or fax.
