NTC Youth Apprenticeship

NTC Youth Apprenticeship The YA program is a one- or two-year elective statewide program that combines academic & technical instruction with mentored, paid, on-the-job learning.

The Youth Apprenticeship (YA) program is a rigorous one- or two-year elective statewide program that combines academic and technical instruction with mentored, paid, on-the-job learning that makes a real world connection for students. Youth Apprentices work a minimum of 450 hours at their YA work-site each year of their program and take related high school or college classes to enhance their work-

site experiences. High school juniors and seniors from participating North Central Wisconsin School-to-Career Partnership schools are eligible to participate. Programs are available in the following categories:
•Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources
•Architecture and Construction
•Finance
•Graphic Design/Printing
•Health
•Hospitality and Tourism
•Information Technology
•Manufacturing
•Science Technology, Engineering and Math
•Transportation Distribution and Logistics

Wausau West Youth Apprenticeship students celebrated National Registered Apprenticeship Week. Central Wisconsin has over 300 youth apprenticeship students gaining life-long valuable skills through 11 industry tracks at their work-based learning sites. These students balance school, work, sports, and extracurricular activities. Congratulations students!

Malachai Anderson completed the Professional Sales and Merchandising units during his Youth Apprenticeship (YA). He enjoyed his experience so much that he purchased the company and is now the new owner of Northside Computer. The YA program has given Malachai the opportunity to find a way to explore his passion for computers and clarified what he wanted to do professionally.

Kasey Woolley is a carpentry Youth Apprentice (YA) at Findorf Construction. Her YA experience has allowed her to work with a number of subcontractors and explore many different career opportunities. In addition to learning more about the construction industry, Kasey has built a network of connections, gained confidence, and narrowed down a career path for her future.

NTC’s Metal Masters Quest Program
Metal Masters Quest gives students in grades 9 - 12 the opportunity to complete 2 credits of adult apprenticeship machining classes. Classes will be delivered in an online format with supplementary hands-on activities to build foundational knowledge in math and engineering drawings related to manufacturing machining careers. Additionally, participants will be connected to employment at local businesses based on availability of positions and student interest. Juniors and seniors are also eligible for the Youth Apprenticeship (YA) program. Metal Masters Quest will run July 12th – August 27th. Please see flier for additional details.
