We can attest to Lee's heart for service - he's one of our volunteers, too! ❤️ We are so glad to have Lee in our community!

Meet Lee Huckbody, a dedicated United Way of Marathon County retired volunteer.

You can find him at almost any volunteer opportunity available, whether it’s painting the walls of the Community Closet, harvesting carrots, or packing boxes of fresh produce, Lee continues to show up.

His latest volunteer contribution has been with our Hunger Coalition packing produce boxes.

“I enjoy the great group of people I can rub shoulders with who also volunteer a couple of hours on a Tuesday morning packing 200 boxes of fresh produce that’s distributed to the community,” he said.

Lee has been retired for about a year but has been raking leaves for United Way’s Make a Difference Day for 20 years through his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“We used that opportunity of raking yards in our community as a service opportunity for the youth in my church, so for 20 plus years now we’ve helped those who need help getting the leaves off their yards. It's been great,” Lee said.

Are you free for a couple hours on Mondays? We will have an opening for a regular meal delivery driver starting July 6.

This role is perfect for:
- Retired folks
- People who work at night
- Anyone who enjoys providing a friendly face for those who don't get out much :)

Sign up to drive a route, package meals, or to sub in on occasion. We also welcome groups and businesses to "own" a shift and rotate employees week-to-week.

As we approach Older Americans Month, it’s a time to recognize the seniors in our community.

Every day, we deliver meals that help our neighbors stay healthy and independent at home.

A donation of $30 provides meals for one week, and $120 supports a full month.

Together Marathon County is a community-wide collective of nonprofits, volunteers, and community partners working to transform how Marathon County approaches volunteering. We're backed by the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation and powered by a dedicated team based in Wausau.
