Federal, state, and local officials are currently conducting Joint Preliminary Damage Assessments (JPDAs) for Wisconsin counties impacted by April storms. We have been informed that FEMA has completed their desk review and validated our damage assessment information. As a result, we are not anticipating a visit from FEMA to conduct in-person assessments. This is in part due to the diligence of our damage assessment teams who assembled comprehensive data and photos of the damage throughout the county. The data collected as part of the JPDA process will help the State of Wisconsin to decide if requesting federal assistance on behalf of affected communities is warranted.

We’ve received many questions from local residents as to what to expect with FEMA’s involvement in this disaster. A list of frequently asked questions and answers can be found at the link below:

FEMA considers the overall impact of the disaster, including the ability of state, tribal, and local governments to respond and recover. This includes factors such as population size, available resources, and the unique circumstances of the affected area.
