The Wausau Police Department K-9 Unit is composed of four patrol K-9 teams and three therapy dog teams:

Therapy Dog Teams:

Officer Ben Price & K-9 Birdie (Horance Mann MS)

If you're interested in a Wausau PD K-9 Unit Challenge Coin, you can pick one up at our police department during normal business hours for $15. If you're not local, send us a direct message and we will make arrangements to mail it to you for an additional $5.

These coins are sold as a fundraiser to help support our K-9 program.

Thank you to the Wausau American Legion Post 10 for stopping by yesterday to present our Wausau Police K-9 Unit with a donation.

The majority of our annual K-9 budget is spent on training and medical bills. Donations such as these are crucial to helping support our dog teams by acquiring & replacing equipment as well as funding our eventual costs for replacing retiring dogs.

Officer Cross 👮 and K-9 Kaedo 🐕 with a great recent find, removing methamphetamine and fentanyl packaged for sale from a traffic stop. There’s no stopping drugs, but any impact we can make to keep these dangerous substances out of the hands of our citizens is a win for our team. 🐶
