Beginning May 29, 2026, milling and resurfacing will commence on S. Fulton St. between the railroad tracks and Leggett St. This is expected to conclude on June 5th, 2026. Some additional work will be performed the following week and will conclude by June 12th, 2026. Work will be performed during the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

This schedule is subject to weather and any other unforeseen circumstances and can change at any time. Residents and businesses will be notified of any changes.

Areas affected will include:
· S. Fulton St. (railroad tracks to Leggett Street)
· All streets connected to S. Fulton St. (N. Fulton St., Commercial St., Birch St., E. Chestnut St., W. Chestnut St., Cherry St., and Leggett St.)

Normal traffic routes will be maintained by Gerken Paving Inc.

No street parking will be permitted on S. Fulton St. during this time. Any vehicles parked in the street and restricting construction activities during this time will be towed.

Tuesday May 12th, around 8:00 AM the Street Dept. will be conducting infrastructure maintenance and will have Lawrence Ave between E. Leggett and Douglass Dr. shut down for about 4 hours. local traffic can detour around by using Dwight Ave. and Douglas Dr. If possible, try and avoid the area but please have patience and slow down while the workers are present.

The Wauseon Fire Department, along with several surrounding departments, will be conducting training exercises at the old ODOT location on Shoop Ave beginning Saturday April 18, 2026 and continuing through Monday April 20, 2026.

This training is being completed in partnership with the Ohio Fire Academy and will focus on Fire Behavior, including the use of a Fire Behavior Lab. You may see visible smoke and fire conditions as part of this hands-on training.

This morning at around 6am, the Wauseon Police Department assisted with a search warrant at a residence in the 800 block of S. Shoop Ave. No one was injured and there is no threat to the public.
