Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and the freedoms we are privileged to enjoy every day.

As families and friends gather to enjoy parades, cookouts, fireworks, and time together, we encourage everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

🚒 Remember these holiday safety tips:
🎇 Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible
🔥 Keep grills and fire pits attended at all times
💧 Stay hydrated during outdoor activities
🚗 Never drink and drive
🏊 Keep a close eye on children around water

TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT!

The Wauseon Fire Department would like to remind everyone that the City of Wauseon's annual fireworks display is happening TONIGHT, July 2, 2026, at Dorothy Biddle Park!

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, family, and friends for an evening of community celebration and a spectacular fireworks show.

With hot temperatures expected over the next several days, the Wauseon Fire Department encourages everyone to take extra precautions to stay safe in the heat.

Heat-related illnesses can happen quickly. Help protect yourself and your loved ones by following these simple tips:

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
🏠 Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
⏰ Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, typically between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
👶👵 Check on elderly neighbors, young children, and those with medical conditions, as they are especially vulnerable to extreme heat.
🐾 Don't forget your pets! Make sure they have plenty of fresh water and shade, and avoid walking them on hot pavement.
🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle—even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a parked car can become deadly in a very short time.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If someone becomes confused, stops sweating, loses consciousness, or has a body temperature above 103°F, call 911 immediately.

Let's work together to keep our community safe during this heat wave. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another.

Absolutely beautiful work. ❤️ Thank you, Blooms Flower Company, for creating such a meaningful tribute to honor Tony Druhot and his service. The care, craftsmanship, and heart that went into this arrangement are evident in every detail. It is a fitting symbol of the love, respect, and gratitude our community has for Tony and all who dedicate their lives to serving others. Thank you for helping celebrate a life that touched so many.

It is hard to put into words what an incredible honor this was for our team.

When we were asked to create such a meaningful tribute, we were both excited and deeply humbled to be trusted with something that would mean so much to so many people—especially to our local fire department, other fire departments and the community.

Flowers have a way of expressing what words sometimes cannot, and being able to play a small part in honoring those who serve and support one another is a privilege we never take for granted.

To our Community, Mutual Aid Partners, and Friends,

On behalf of the Wauseon Fire Department, we want to extend our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of support, comfort, and sympathy shown to us during the difficult time following the passing of Tony Druhot.

Losing a member of our department family is incredibly challenging, but the kindness and solidarity of our community and surrounding agencies have provided immense strength to our personnel and to Tony’s family.

We are profoundly grateful to the mutual aid departments who stepped in to cover our response district, ensuring our community remained safe while allowing our members the time to honor Tony. To the local businesses, organizations, and individuals who sent food, flowers, and messages of condolence—your generosity did not go unnoticed and touched us all deeply.

Tony dedicated himself to serving others and seeing that same spirit of service and community reflected back to us during this time has been incredibly comforting. We are proud to serve such a compassionate community.

Thank you for standing by us, honoring Tony's memory, and lifting us up when it mattered most.

Today, the Wauseon Fire Department would like to recognize and celebrate all the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures in our community.

We extend a special thank you to the dads who serve as firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement officers, military members, and all first responders. Your commitment to protecting others while caring for your families is truly inspiring.

To the fathers who lead by example, teach us resilience, and support us through life's challenges—thank you for everything you do.

Happy (Official) First Day of Summer!

Summer has officially arrived, bringing longer days, warmer weather, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy time with family and friends.

As you head outdoors for cookouts, pool days, camping trips, and community events, we encourage everyone to keep safety in mind:
