I wish I could contact you during better times, but in light of recent developments in the world, our country, our state and our county I felt the need to reach out to the followers of this page and the citizens of Waushara County's District 9,
There are a few messages that I believe are important to relay to my neighbors:
1. Any and every chance you get, please thank the high risk essential employees who take care of us everyday. This would include EMT's, Law Enforcement Officers, Fire and Rescue Staff, Medical Facility Employees, Care Facility Employees, Correctional Officers, Health Dept. Employees, Grocers, USPS and other Delivery Service Employees, and Gas and Convenience Store employees. I am sure that I am forgetting some employment sectors, so I offer my sincere apologies in advance. Bottom line, if you have friends and family that we, as a society, need at their workplace please take time to recognize how important they are and thank them.
2. Please register for absentee voting. I have volunteered to assist at the polling places if needed, but we can make everyone, voters and volunteers, safer if we choose to vote via absentee ballot. Use this link to register: https://myvote.wi.gov/en-US/VoteAbsentee
3. We have all heard the phrases "Social Distancing" and "Flatten the Curve" a ton lately, but we also need to take these philosophies seriously. I have failed to do this myself at times, but I continue to try to be better. I ask everyone else to do the same. Only leave your home for solitary activity. If you need to leave the house for chores that will increase the likelihood of encountering others, make sure to give others space. Practice good hygiene. Actually, practice great hygiene! Waushara County has zero cases as of the writing of this post, but presently 30 of Wisconsin's 72 counties have active cases. We need to protect each other as best we can.
4. And lastly, but definitely not least, I wish to thank The Culver's (Peder, Jennifer and Cami) for spreading cheer throughout the Wautoma area over the weekend. It was definitely something many people needed, and I am proud to call you a neighbor and a friend.
Please be kind and take care of each other.
