After 7 weeks of intense training at the Mississippi State Fire Academy, 4 of our rookies graduated the NFPA 1010 course today. The training, skills and friendships that were made will last a whole career. Now it’s time to build on what you’ve learned in the basic class as you take your first steps back in the community as Certified Firefighter’s. Congratulations to firefighters Aiden Bryant, Hayden Hearty, Levi Garcia, and Noah Hernandez on a job well done.

On behalf of the Waveland Fire Department, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who stood beside us as we honored the life and service of Assistant Chief Piazza.
To the many fire departments, law enforcement agencies, EMS personnel, and first responders who traveled to pay their respects, thank you for your presence, your support, and the brotherhood and sisterhood you demonstrated. Your participation in the funeral procession and your assistance at intersections ensured that Assistant Chief Piazza received the dignified farewell he so richly deserved.
A special thank you to the Diamondhead Fire Department and Bay St. Louis Fire Department for providing station and area coverage, allowing our firefighters the opportunity to attend the services and honor one of our own. Your willingness to answer the call for us while we laid our brother to rest is something we will never forget. We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Gulfport Fire Department Honor Guard for your professionalism, dedication, and the solemn tribute you provided. Your commitment to honoring Assistant Chief Piazza with such dignity and respect will never be forgotten, and we are deeply grateful for your service.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the Riemann Family Funeral Homes team, especially Funeral Director Jason Green, for the compassion, professionalism, and exceptional care shown to Assistant Chief Piazza, his family, and our department. Your guidance, attention to every detail, and unwavering support helped ensure a beautiful and dignified farewell, and we are deeply thankful for all you did.
To our community, elected officials, churches, businesses, friends, and neighbors—thank you for your prayers, kind words, meals, cards, donations, and every expression of love shown to our department and the Piazza family. Your compassion has been a source of strength during this difficult time.
The fire service is more than a profession—it is a family. This week, that family and our community reminded us that no one stands alone. With sincere appreciation, thank you for helping us honor Assistant Chief Piazza with the respect, dignity, and love he deserved.
Assistant Chief Piazza's legacy of service will never be forgotten.
