Calling all artists and graphic designers! The park district is looking to our supporters to create a logo for the district. Please submit ideas to us via instant messenger. We will accept entries through August 27th. The commissioners will narrow the entries down to 8-10, post them on this page, and ask for everyone to vote for their favorites.
The designs should consist of no more than five colors, include the words "PIKE COUNTY PARK DISTRICT", and represent our beautiful county in a unique way.

Stay Safe in the Pike County Heat!

Whew, it is a scorcher out there, Southern Ohio! With the heat index hitting anywhere from 100°F to 106°F over the next few days, our beautiful parks are getting plenty of sunshine—but that means we all need to take extra precautions to stay safe.

If you are planning to hit the trails, cast a line, or spend time outdoors this week, keep these essential park safety tips in mind:

**Hydrate Early and Often:** Don't wait until you're thirsty to start drinking water. If you're hiking, bring twice as much water as you think you'll need.

**Stick to the Shade:** Plan your visits for early morning or later in the evening when the sun isn't directly overhead. Take frequent breaks under the canopy.

**Protect Your Pups:** If the ground is too hot for the back of your hand, it’s too hot for your dog's paws. Keep your four-legged hiking buddies on shaded paths, give them plenty of water breaks, and never leave them in a parked vehicle.

**Know the Signs:** Heat exhaustion can sneak up fast. If you or anyone in your group starts feeling dizzy, nauseous, or excessively tired, get to a cool place or an air-conditioned vehicle immediately.

Let's look out for one another so we can all enjoy our local parks safely. If you're out out on the trails and see someone who looks like they're struggling with the heat, check on them!

Stay cool, pack extra water, and stay safe out there, Pike County!
