Dear Friends and Family,

Having been born and raised in Waverly, I have a deep appreciation for the city, and I have long worked toward positive changes for the City of Waverly. Last November, I was appointed to fill out the term of Ward 3 Councilperson. The time has come for me to seek election for that office. I want to continue bringing fresh ideas and constructive solutions to the City of Wav

erly by becoming an elected official on the Waverly City Council. I have always been very concerned about Waverly residents’ quality of life, small businesses, and property taxes. I believe there are practical solutions for improving the great quality of life we have in Waverly. In addition, as an elected council person I will continue to push toward lower property taxes and be a voice for small business owners

Waverly has a deep rooted foundation in small business, especially family-owned small businesses. We need to maintain support of these businesses so that Waverly will continue to be a place that families can live and work. Lowering property taxes is a vital part of my plan. It will help current citizens keep more of the money they earn, and it will help encourage families to move to Waverly. Most importantly, it will help keep family-owned, small businesses intact. These businesses are the heart of our community, and lower property taxes will bring them continued success and growth that will help them maintain their position in the future.

I hope all Waverly citizens take a moment to listen to the parting words of our outgoing council members.

Excellent Comments and Important to hear.

They start at the 35min mark. 35:00

I would also again like to say that it has been an honor to serve 5 years on Waverly City Council... And it had been an honor to serve alongside some of the most amazing people these last 3-5 yeas... Dan Lampe & Dave Reznicek.

This is the letter I had in the Waverly Newspapers when I decided to run for re-election 4 years ago. Read it closely. I won my re-election... And nobody can say that I didn't do and fight for everything listed here. I made a promise of what I would fight for. I was elected by the Citizens of Waverly to do them.. and I fought for what I was elected to do til the very end.

The Iowa DOT has pulled all their plows off the roads due to how bad conditions are currently.

Please be safe and do not drive. If you have to.. use extreme caution. If the Iowa DOT doesn't think it's safe to have their own workers on the roads, you shouldn't be on them either... And things will only get worse as it gets closer to dark and temps drop.

Also, the City of Waverly closed the Library 2hrs ago for Public Safety to keep citizens off the streets and sidewalks.

Thanks
Wes

Pete Lampe during Public Comments tonight made a point to rip on me for missing tonight's City Council Meeting.

Below is the email I sent today to our Mayor, City Administrator, and all of City Council.

I am sorry that people in my life are more important to me than a meeting. Pete Lampe thinks otherwise.

Maybe he should know the facts before he bad-mouths me in Public... Or maybe he just hates me and thinks I'm a horrible human.

I would say the decision I made tonight would show what type of person I am... But I will let you all decide.

Hello,

I am sorry but I am not going to be able to make tonight's meeting.

My girlfriend had to have surgery today. She does not have any family around here. We just got out of the hospital 30 mins ago... And I can not in any good conscience leave her alone for 3 hours when she is just recently out of a 2hr surgery and can't get out of bed.

I had an amendment that I was going to introduce for one of the items... I will send what I wrote up to Tim and probably Dave also. They can read it and they can decide if they feel it's something that should be brought up.

If I can, I will try to watch and if possible I will try to come in for the last couple items.

Hopefully everyone understands.

Thank you,
Wes

NWS had updated Cedar River at Janesville up to 17.4ft. That would make it the 2nd highest of all time only behind 2008.

They also updated CC up 2ft to crest at 22.5ft which is basically tied with 2nd highest all time there also.

Mike and city is meeting this morning to put out a Press Release. But from looking at CC and Janesville looks like we will get 2nd highest Cedar has ever been..crest Friday night timeframe...

And it's still raining... North of dam will be better than past..but I'd tell people to prepare for 2nd highest river in Waverly History... especially if you live south of dam.

The National Weather Service has now predicted the Cedar River in Charles City to crest at 20.7ft on Friday around noon. Major flood stage (the highest) for Charles City is 18ft.

City of Waverly will be releasing a Press Release soon. Be on the lookout for river flooding this weekend.
