"I am deeply grateful for Self-Help International for helping me see life in a positive way. The organization sowed in me confidence and a desire for self-improvement."

María is a mother of five who lives in El Consuelo #2, San Carlos, Nicaragua. She was introduced to Self-Help International's Women's Empowerment Program by one of her sisters. The training sessions gave María an unwavering certainty that she had the courage and ability to transform her family's life.

Now, when María walks through her plot and sees the green shoots emerging from the soil, she knows that these plants reflect her own growth. Thanks to the support of Self-Help International, María believes she can make her dreams come true.

“I’m doing very well.”

Fidaus (far left), is a Self-Help International Teen Girls Club graduate, seen here with Grace Marfo, Teen Girls Club Program Officer, and Benjamin K**i, Ghana Country Director.

Fidaus is thriving at senior high school, thanks in part to the scholarship she receives from Self-Help International that covers all required items listed on her school prospectus (such as uniforms, books, and stationary), along with termly assistance for transportation and essential practical tools.

These resources may seem small, but they remove real barriers, allowing Fidaus to attend school consistently, participate fully in her studies, and focus on learning rather than financial strain.

Noel, a father of three in San Pedro de los Arenales, Nicaragua, had become so discouraged with farming that he rented his land out to the to***co industry.

That all changed when he joined the Self-Help International Agriculture Program.

Now, Noel is successfully growing corn and reinvesting his profits to expand his operations.
