Paving operations on C38 and T77 are completed NW of Waverly.

We have a few items left to complete for that project to be finalized: Pavment markings and shoulder rock will still need to be installed, we will update the schedule on those items when we have dates. Due to restrictions in working near the Railroad, the contractor will also have to return and complete that short stretch of paving when we have clearance from them to do that work.

60 mph speed limit change:
We have been working over the past weeks to evaluate our roads for the 60 mph statutory speed limit change, which goes into effect tomorrow. The vast majority of Bremer County secondary roads meet requirements to have a 60 mph speed limit in place, and we will begin changing signage tomorrow morning,

Please note that if the signs have not been changed to reflect a 60 mph speed limit, the speed limit will remain (and be enforced) based on the existing signage. This clarification and guidance comes from the state and should be how things are enforced statewide.

Waverly and Bremer County will be hosting the 27th Annual Tractorcade next week at the Bremer County Fairgrounds. The Waverly Police Department, Bremer County Sheriff's, and Iowa State Patrol will be assisting with traffic control Monday, June 15th through Wednesday, June 17th as the Tractorcade makes their way through Waverly out towards their rural routes. Expect traffic congestion and delays along East Bremer Ave, Cedar River Parkway/10th Ave SW at the intersection of 4th St SW, and 10th Ave SW and Heritage Way on Monday. Traffic congestion and delays on Wednesday will involve Bremer Road, Horton Road and Cedar Lane. Tuesday routes will go south into Black Hawk County and Waterloo. Please be patient and use alternate routes through town on those days. Thank you!

Grading work on Killdeer Ave will begin tomorrow between C50 and Blueridge Dr. The road will be closed while our crews bring in fill material and raise the lowest past of the road, so please use an alternate route if heading to C50. Once that portion of the road is completed, work will move to the stretch between Blueridge Dr and Arrowhead Ridge, and then to the area north of there.

Beginning next week, portions of V21 north and east of Waverly will be closed for culvert repairs. We have 9 culverts to replace between City Limits and 188 (140th St) over the next couple months. Closures will move with the projects and there will be advance warning signs (Road Closed Ahead) when you get close. Please allow time for detours or plan for an alternate route. These areas will be temporarily maintained with gravel until a patching crew comes in later this summer to fix. All of this is in preparation for paving this stretch next summer.
