Beginning next week, portions of V21 north and east of Waverly will be closed for culvert repairs. We have 9 culverts to replace between City Limits and 188 (140th St) over the next couple months. Closures will move with the projects and there will be advance warning signs (Road Closed Ahead) when you get close. Please allow time for detours or plan for an alternate route. These areas will be temporarily maintained with gravel until a patching crew comes in later this summer to fix. All of this is in preparation for paving this stretch next summer.

- Our dogs, two black and white Siberian huskies, one male one female ran off last night. They were last seen just north of highway 3 on the corner of Viking Ave. (a little over a mile north of the Wapsi Valley high school) in Bremer county heading west through a field. If found please call me or my wife Megan. 319-300-9439 319-429-8286. They are both microchipped. But do not have their collars on due to we literally just gave them a bath!

One of the picture’s is an old picture but the big one is the male and the puppy is the female, but is much bigger now!

Thank you in advance!

***Update*** our male dog made it home, filthy, limping and smelling like a skunk, but otherwise safe. Our female dog, Nyx, is still not home. Please keep an eye out for her. She is very friendly and would never hurt anyone.

Every year about this time, we prepare a 5 year construction plan for submittal to the DOT. We will review the initial draft (below) on February 24 at 10:00 am in the BOS Meeting room. Comments from members of the public are welcome and may be submitted by contacting the Engineer's Office or by contacting the Board of Supervisors. Members of the public are also welcome to attend on February 24th to hear the full discussion. Please note that this does not include projects which are considered maintenance, such as sealcoating or future day labor (county crew) bridges which have not yet been added to the program.

The proposed plan includes just over $22 million in estimated costs, of which $13.9 million would come from federal aid in the form of grant applications or program dollars made available to counties. An additional $3.4 million comes from our Farm to Market account and $4.5 million from Bremer County Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) funding.

Also note that projects in the plan (especially in later years) may change schedule and future projects may be added or removed as funding or local support changes.

Reminder, it is illegal (and dangerous) to push piles of snow onto county roads. We have had several occasions of snow being left in piles out on the road after being pushed out of driveways. We understand the struggle dealing with this much snow all at once, but please don't create a dangerous situation by leaving it in the roadway.
