Today the Waverly Fire department had the opportunity to help with the mock crash out at the HLWW high school. Thank you to Wright County Shierff's Office & HLWW High School for putting this on, along with Howard Lake Fire Department, and Winsted Fire Department.

Please remember that permits are required to have anything larger than a 3’x3’ campfire.

Remember these safety tips:
📌Always be present when charging products, never while sleeping, and only use the supplied charger.
📌Only use an approved replacement battery pack.
📌Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper charging and unplug the device when done.
📌Never use an micromobility device with a battery pack that has been modified/reworked by unqualified personnel or with re-purposed or used cells.
📌NEVER throw lithium-ion batteries into the trash or general recycling. Instead, take them to your local battery recycler or hazardous waste collection center.

On Wednesday (Oct. 4), be prepared for your cell phone to shock you at some point between 1:20 p.m. CT and 1:50 p.m. CT by giving off a very loud buzz. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is going to conduct a nationwide test of its emergency notifications system. The purpose of the test is to assess the effectiveness of FEMA’s Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts. FEMA says all cell phones will receive the message only once. Your phone will receive a message that states “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is required.”

We will be doing a training house burn tomorrow September 24th at County Road 8 and 56th street (between big and little Lake Waverly). We are asking that the community please avoid added congestion in this area tomorrow so that the fire departments and firefighters involved can focus on the training. We appreciate your cooperation in advance in helping us make this training safe and successful.

Conditions are very dry out there, folks!

Simply put, now isn’t a good time to do any burning, especially in northern Minnesota. Skip the campfires, fireworks and planned burns to reduce wildfire risks.

Your carbon monoxide alarm may not be working?

Not all carbon monoxide alarms will alert you when they stop working. Many alarms manufactured before 2009 are not equipped with the end-of-life alert.

If you are not sure how old your alarm is, look for a date on the back of the alarm. If your alarm is seven years old or older, it is time to replace. If there is no date on the back, the alarm is over 20 years old!
