We're holding three area programs on Saturdays in January to help share some knowledge on winter birds---------how to identify them and what types of feeds and feeders attract them to your backyard. No cost, just food bring food donations for area pantries. Family friendly and kids can make their own feeders out of corncobs and pine cones.

Ever wonder about the small, bright yellow planes flying low over fields? Me too! Currently they are aerial applying cover crop seeds to enhance soil quality.

A DU Biologist was looking for drain tile while doing some follow up wetland work on an acquisition in Swift County. He snapped this picture of the tile investigation work that shows how deep native prairie plant root systems grow. This property was seeded in late 2020. After four growing seasons, the root systems of some of these native plants are already approaching four feet deep. These robust root systems help store carbon and anchor the soil to keep it in place. Ducks migrate, soil shouldn't! Ducks Unlimited Great Lakes/Atlantic Region
