A few strong to severe storms are gathering some steam in West Tennessee, as they work their way toward Middle Tennessee. Through 2 PM CDT, the severe threat is increasing generally west of I-65. Damaging winds will be the main threat, with large hail to the size of quarters and a tornado or two being the secondary threats.

• Safety first, always prepared! This Severe Weather Awareness Week, know the tornado risk in our area:
Know the signs of a tornado, including a rotating funnel-shaped cloud, an approaching cloud of debris, or a loud roar like a freight train.
Pay attention to weather reports.
Identify and practice going to a safe shelter. If you can’t stay at home, make plans to go to a public shelter.
Plan for your pet. They are an important member of your family, so they need to be including in your family’s emergency plan.
Prepare for long-term stay at home or sheltering in place by gathering emergency supplies, non-perishable foods, water, medical supplies, and medication.
