A severe thunderstorm doesn't have to produce a tornado to be dangerous.
Severe thunderstorms can bring damaging winds, large hail, lightning and flooding. Know the difference between a watch and a warning so you'll know when it's time to prepare—and when it's time to act.
ACTION: Have more than one way to receive weather warnings and know where you'll take shelter before severe weather arrives.
Get Forecast Ready.

September is National Preparedness Month in Tennessee.
This year, we're helping families and communities take simple steps to prepare for emergencies before they happen.
All month long, we'll focus on four ways to get ready:
1. Know your weather plan.
2. Prepare your home and community.
3. Prepare for extended power outages.
4. Families and communities prepare together.
Follow along, take one small step, and help your community become more prepared
