🎓🎉 BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WAVERLY CLASS OF 2026! 🎉🎓

The members of the Waverly Police Department extend our heartfelt congratulations to the graduating Class of 2026! We are incredibly proud of your hard work, dedication, and accomplishments. Tonight is a milestone worth celebrating, and we wish each of you success and happiness as you begin your next chapter.

As family, friends, and community members gather to celebrate, please be aware of the following traffic and parking information:

🚗 Traffic Advisory
Barker Place will become ONE WAY beginning at 5:00 PM, with traffic traveling eastbound toward Cayuta Avenue.
Elm Street will be ONE WAY westbound toward Spaulding Place.

Graduation ceremonies are scheduled from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

🅿️ Please refer to the attached parking map for available parking locations, handicap parking, and designated entrances.

⚠️ For everyone's safety, we ask motorists to:
Drive slowly and use extra caution for the large number of pedestrians expected in the area.
Do not block residential driveways at any time.
Keep roadways clear and accessible. It is essential that emergency vehicles and personnel are able to navigate the area quickly should the need arise.

REMINDER: TOMORROW is the day to stand outside and support our 2026 graduating class!

🚓🎓 Class of 2026 Senior Parade – Traffic Advisory 🎓🚓
The Waverly High School Class of 2026 Senior Parade will take place on Tuesday, June 16th beginning at approximately 11:00 AM.
Residents and motorists should expect increased traffic and brief delays along the parade route as our seniors make their way through the community before concluding at East Waverly Park.
The parade route is expected to follow:
➡️ Waverly High School (Old Bus Lot)
➡️ Hospital Place
➡️ Left on Center Street
➡️ Right on Spring Street
➡️ Left on Lincoln Street
➡️ Left on Chemung Street
➡️ Left on Ball Street
➡️ Through the Elderwood parking lot
➡️ Right onto Route 34
➡️ Left onto Chemung Street
➡️ Right onto Cayuta Avenue
➡️ Right onto Elm Street
➡️ Right onto Spaulding Street
➡️ Right onto Barker Street
➡️ Left onto Cayuta Avenue
➡️ Right onto Ithaca Street
➡️ East Waverly Park (Senior Picnic)

🚂Big Boy Train Celebration – Important Traffic and Parking Information 🚂

The Waverly Police Department would like to welcome both our residents and visitors to the area as we celebrate the arrival of the historic Big Boy Train on Thursday, June 11, and Friday, June 12.

Thursday, June 11
The Big Boy Train is expected to travel through Waverly between 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM. Time subject to change.
To accommodate spectators and ensure public safety:
• Fulton Street will be closed from Broad Street to Yanuzzi Drive beginning at 5:00 PM and will reopen after the event concludes.
• Please park legally and courteously.
• Do not block driveways, sidewalks, roadways, or emergency access points.

Friday, June 12
The Big Boy Train will depart Sayre at 9AM and continue east toward Owego, providing additional viewing opportunities throughout the morning, eastern end of Broad Street.
• Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes during this time.
• STREET WILL NO LONGER BE CLOSED.

Important Information for Property Owners
Private parking lots remain the responsibility of the property owner. If a vehicle is parked on private property without permission, it is the property owner's responsibility to contact a towing service if they wish to have the vehicle removed. The Waverly Police Department cannot authorize or arrange towing from private property.

For safety, please stay back at least 25 feet from the tracks due to the steam coming from the train.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation as we welcome this unique event to our community. Please be patient, plan ahead, and most importantly, enjoy the celebration safely!

We anticipate a significant increase in traffic during the event. Residents living within walking distance are encouraged to walk to viewing locations whenever possible. Doing so will help alleviate traffic congestion, reduce parking challenges, and contribute to a safer and more enjoyable experience for everyone attending.
