Any day spent with friends and family is a great day!

In celebration of National Police Week, the Waxahachie Police Department recently hosted its third annual Police Memorial Hamburger Cook-Out. This special event provides an opportunity for current Waxahachie Police officers and staff to gather, reconnect, and fellowship with former officers who helped shape our department and community.

For the third consecutive year, H.E.B. Waxahachie generously provided the food, grilling hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone to enjoy. We are sincerely grateful for their continued partnership and support.

The Waxahachie Police Department deeply values the service and sacrifices of our former officers and greatly appreciates the dedication and commitment of our current officers who faithfully serve the citizens of Waxahachie each day.

During National Police Week, we pause to remember the heroes of the Waxahachie Police Department who gave their lives in service to our community. 💙

Today, we honor the memory of:

🕊️ John Spalding
End of Watch: December 17, 1882

🕊️ Lt. Jeffrey Springer
End of Watch: August 7, 1999

🕊️ Officer Josh Williams
End of Watch: July 28, 2012

These men answered the call to serve with courage, honor, and sacrifice. Their dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten, and their legacy continues to live on through every officer who wears the badge today.

💙 National Police Week is not only a time to recognize the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers across the nation, but also a time to remember the families, friends, and fellow officers who carry their memory forward each day.

🙏 Please join us in honoring our fallen heroes and keeping their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers this week.

🕯️ Thank you for your service.

You will never be forgotten.

🚔 Officer Spotlight: Officer Taylor

Behind the badge, we’re just like everyone else—but we’re called to serve something bigger.

Meet Officer Taylor (JT), he was asked, "Why do you do what you do?"

"I became a police officer because I wanted to help people in any way I could, and I’m proud to help strengthen the relationship between our community and the police department every single day.”

“For over 17 years, I’ve been blessed to serve with the Waxahachie Police Department and give back to the community I love. As a Community Services Officer, I have the opportunity to mentor students, work with our schools, teach classes, and help create events like the Cops and Kids Picnic and Junior Police Academy."

With over 17 years of service, Officer Taylor continues to make a lasting impact through community outreach, mentorship, and service beyond the badge. As a cancer survivor, he also leads the department’s annual testicular cancer fundraiser and has donated more than 52 gallons of blood and platelets to help others in need.

Off duty, you can still often find him involved in community events throughout Waxahachie, continuing to share his passion for serving others.

Behind the badge, we’re just like everyone else—but we’re called to serve something bigger.

Meet Officer Agreda, he was asked, "Why do you do what you do?"

“I do this job because I truly love helping people. When someone calls 911, they’re often facing one of the most difficult moments of their lives, and I want to be the calm, friendly face they can rely on. This profession is about more than just serving, it’s about making a difference when it matters most. It’s something I take great pride in, especially knowing my son can look at what I do and be proud.”

With 6 years of service, Officer Agreda continues to serve the community with compassion, reliability, and a heart for helping others.

🚔 Officer Spotlight: Detective Reynolds

Behind the badge, we’re just like everyone else—but we’re called to serve something bigger.

Meet Detective Reynolds, he was asked, "Why do you do what you do?"

“No two days are ever the same, and that’s part of what keeps me coming back. I enjoy serving the community, working alongside a great group of officers, and trying to leave things a little better than I found them. Some days that means helping someone through a tough situation, and other days it means handling situations that require patience, problem solving, and clear communication. At the end of the day, I take pride in what we do and the people I get to do it with.”

With 5 years of service, Detective Reynolds continues to make a positive impact through dedication, teamwork, and a commitment to the community.

Off duty, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
