Ellis County is no stranger to severe weather. Are you prepared?
Interested in severe weather, and want to learn more about severe weather threats in our area?

In partnership with Ellis County, The City of Waxahachie, and The National Weather Service (NWS) Fort Worth Office will be conducting a free severe weather training class (known as SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training) for Ellis County on Thursday, February 29th 2024, at 6PM at the Coleman Junior High Fine Arts Center!
There is no cost to attend this class, and no registration is required.

Mayor Justin Coffman recognized volunteer operators of Ellis County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) at Tuesday night's City Council meeting in recognition of the valuable services they provide with critical communications during emergencies and disasters. They also assist Midlothian and Ellis County Emergency Management by serving as trained SkyWarn weather spotters and help with storm reporting. As part of Amateur Radio Week, they recently took part in a 24-hour Amateur Radio Field Day exercise to demonstrate readiness to provide self-supporting communications during a disaster. Thank you for your service to the community.
