🚒 Registration is NOW OPEN for the next class of the Waxahachie Fire Rescue Futures Academy! 🚒

FINAL DATE TO SIGN UP: Saturday, September 5th

Are you a WISD Junior or Senior interested in exploring a career in the fire service? This is your opportunity to experience what it's takes to become a firefighter while training alongside the dedicated members of Waxahachie Fire Rescue.

Throughout the program, students will gain hands-on experience and learn about the many different aspects of the firefighting profession. It's a great way to discover whether a career in the fire service is the right fit.

📅 Program Schedule:
• Begins in the fall and concludes in the spring
• Follows the WISD school calendar
• Meets two Saturdays each month

💲 Cost: FREE! The only requirement is a commitment to the program and a willingness to learn.

We apologize for the delay in this post, but recently, we had the honor of celebrating our Shield & Promotion Ceremony! 🚒🔥

We are proud to recognize two members who received their shields: FF Fleet and FF Fulton. This milestone represents their first year of hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community.

Yesterday, WFR was dispatched to a grass fire south of town. Upon arrival, crews found approximately 5 acres of tall grass burning.

Our members worked alongside ESD-6 to safely contain and extinguish the fire. We’re thankful for the teamwork and quick response from everyone involved.

Thankfully, no injuries or equipment damage were reported.

Please continue to use caution with outdoor activities, especially during these dry conditions. 🔥🚒

We’re excited to share that a new brush truck will soon be joining our fleet! This has been nearly a two-year process, and we’re excited to see it getting closer to becoming a reality.

Several of our members recently traveled to Hillsboro to check on the progress and see firsthand how this important addition is coming together. This new vehicle will add more power, capability, and resources to our fleet, helping us better serve and protect our community.

A special thank you to Skeeter Emergency Vehicles and Siddons Martin for their dedication, expertise, and hard work throughout this process. We truly appreciate everything that has gone into making this project a success!

Three of our dedicated members—LT Corder, PE Lynn, and FF Tedder—are currently deployed to South Texas as part of a wildland firefighting task force. They are pre-positioned alongside crews from five other departments to assist with the increased wildfire threat brought on by extreme temperatures and exceptionally dry conditions.

Our team is prepared, staying vigilant, and ready to respond if called upon. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to protecting communities and supporting our fellow firefighters and emergency responders.

Please do your part to help prevent wildfires. Stay safe, stay weather-aware, and use extra caution with anything that could potentially spark a fire.

Our officers recently participated in an Officer Development Program training featuring speaker Dr. Galia Cohen.

The training included engaging tabletop exercises and valuable discussions on best practices for effectively communicating and working with younger generations. We appreciate the opportunity to continue developing our officers’ skills and knowledge so we can better serve our community.

Recently, our WFR family was treated to a rare night at the pool! 💦☀️

Optimist Pool opened its doors exclusively for our WFR family, giving us the opportunity to step away from work, cool off, relax, and simply enjoy some time together.

We are so grateful to Optimist Pool for welcoming us and helping make this a fun and memorable evening for our WFR family! Thank you for giving us the chance to connect, laugh, and enjoy time together outside of work. ❤️

We were honored to receive a generous donation from Energy Transfer! 💙

Energy Transfer operates a large natural gas pipeline system that helps provide essential energy to communities along the way. To date, they have generously supported 16 counties across Texas through their community giving efforts.

Several of our members recently attended Makin’ the Push for Nathaniel at the Midlothian Fire Training Facility. 🚒❤️‍🔥

The event supports Nathaniel, an 18-year-old battling cancer whose dream is to become a firefighter. Attendees tackled four training tracks: Forcible Entry, Mid-Rise Operations, Search & Rescue, and Vertical Ventilation.

We’re proud to support Nathaniel and his family and grateful to be part of such an amazing fire service community. Keep fighting, Nathaniel! 💪🔥

Today, we were honored to represent our department and attend the Celebration of Life for one of our own Waxahachie Police Officers.

Police and Fire are more than departments—we are family. In times of loss, we stand together, support one another, and surround each other with love and strength. Today was a reminder of the deep bond we share and the commitment we have to never let a member of our family stand alone.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the officer's family, friends, and all of our brothers and sisters in blue. We will continue to honor his memory and carry his legacy forward. 💙❤️
