Meet Abigail Johnson, one of our John Paul Dineen IV Memorial Scholarship recipients!

This fall, Abigail is heading to Oklahoma State University, where she will pursue dual degrees in Agribusiness: Farm and Ranch Management and Animal Science. Her goal is to become a rodeo stock contractor and continue making a meaningful impact in the agriculture and western industries.

“I am a skipped-generation cowgirl who did not grow up in the rodeo or western industries. I got that itch from my grandparents. So, when I had the opportunity to start riding horses, I took it. I worked as a ranch hand before taking on the responsibility of caring for my own horse, Durango,” said Abigail.

Her passion for the western way of life also led her to pursue the rodeo queen journey, ultimately earning a place on the state stage with her sights set on the national stage of Miss Rodeo America. As a queen, Abigail had the opportunity to promote the western way of life through meaningful interactions and media appearances across the country.

We are grateful for young people like Abigail who not only have a passion for agriculture but also a desire to serve, lead and make a meaningful impact. Please join us in wishing this cowgirl the best of luck as she begins this exciting new chapter at Oklahoma State!

Proud of our 4-H alumni for continuing to honor the legacy of Donald Patman and represent Ellis County. Way to go! 💚

Congratulations to all three of our Donald Patman Memorial Scholarship recipients, Karlee Fuller, Jessica Schoolfield and Kaycen Card.

This scholarship was created to honor the life and legacy of Donald Patman. He served Ellis County Farm Bureau in many roles, including secretary-treasurer, membership chairman, cotton commodity chairman and wheat commodity chairman.
Donald grew cotton, corn, wheat and soybeans and raised cattle in partnership with his son, Steve, who continues to serve on our board today.

Donald served as Texas Farm Bureau president from 2000-2002, as vice president from 1996-2000 and as District 4 state director from 1994-2000.

We are proud to have these three young women represent Ellis County Farm Bureau and carry on the agricultural legacy of Donald Patman.

Congratulations to one of our 2026 Donald Patman Memorial Scholarship recipients, Kaycen Card!

Kaycen is a 2025 graduate of Waxahachie High School and a full-time student at East Texas A&M, where she is studying Agribusiness while also working a full-time job. She is working toward a career in agricultural marketing.

Kaycen is no stranger to discipline and hard work. Through her many years in 4-H and FFA, she has learned the importance of agriculture and the people who support this vital industry.

We are so proud of young people like Kaycen who are working hard to become the next generation of agriculturists. We look forward to seeing all she will accomplish! Please join us in congratulating Kaycen on being a 2026 Donald Patman Memorial Scholarship recipient!
