Southern Georgia Area Agency on Aging The AAA is located in Waycross, Georgia, and is a division of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission (SGRC).

The Southern Georgia AAA, a division of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission, develops, provides and coordinates programs and services for older individuals, at-risk adults, and persons with disabilities in 18 counties in Southern Georgia. 18-county region including Atkinson, Bacon, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brantley, Brooks, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Pierce, Tift, Turner and Ware Counties. At the Southern Georgia Area Agency on Aging's ADRC, Screening Specialists are available to evaluate individuals for a variety of programs and services through a process called "Intake and Assistance" (I&A). The Southern Georgia Area Agency on Aging held it's quarterly Aging Advisory Council Meeting at the Nashville, GA Community Center on Wednesday, May 27th. Attendees were able to learning about the legislative results of this year’s advocacy efforts. Aging services had some wins, but unfortunately, the Governor line-item vetoed additional funding. Christy Joyner, Dementia Care Specialist, presented a Dementia Overview to the Brantley County Retired Educators Association on May 15th. She also read the book Grandma's Living with Dementia by Teepa Snow. Aging services available by the Southern Georgia Regional Commission's Area Agency on Aging (SGRC-AAA) were reviewed with the group.

In the picture below is Mrs. Joyner, Tim Sawyer, President of the Brantley County Retired Educators Association, and Kristi Hames, SGRC-AAA Resource Specialist.
