🍄 It’s amazing what a little rain can do! 🌧️

After a good rain, the forest floor really comes alive! Mushrooms and lichens are playing an important role in breaking down dead and decaying plant matter and returning nutrients to the ecosystem. Every organism has a purpose! 🌱🍄

📸 We’d love to see your fungi finds! If you spot a cool mushroom while visiting Laura S. Walker State Park, snap a photo and share it with us in the comments, we want to see what you discover!

Just remember: look, but don’t take! 👀🍄 Please do not harvest, pick, or collect mushrooms, plants, lichens, or other natural items from park property. Our state parks are protected, and collecting natural resources from park property is against the law.

So grab your camera, hit the trails, and let the fungi do their thing! 🍄📸🌿

Coffee, Community & the Satilla River!

Join Satilla Riverkeeper at the Laura S. Walker State Park Interpretive Center on Thursday, September 10th at 9:00 AM for Coffee & Community!

We’ll grab a cup of coffee, connect with fellow river lovers, and enjoy a relaxing walk along the nature trail. It’s a great opportunity to get outside, meet new friends, and learn more about the work we’re doing to protect the Satilla River.

Whether you’re a longtime supporter or just curious about getting involved, we’d love to have you join us! Bring a friend and come enjoy a morning of coffee, community, and the beauty of our watershed.

Come sip, stroll, and connect with us!
