Wayland Public Schools is back in session beginning next week! Grades 1 - 12 return on Monday, August 31 and Kindergarten & Pre-K return September 2. 🏫

Expect longer commute times, increased pedestrian traffic, and school buses making frequent stops throughout town. Drivers are required to stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing and the stop sign is extended. Please be patient and never attempt to pass a stopped school bus. 🚌

The WAYLAND, MA POLICE DEPARTMENT will be increasing traffic enforcement as part of our “Slow Down Wayland” initiative, with a focus on speeding and distracted driving.

Today is the last day for in-person early voting. Early Voting Hours are 9:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. in the Town Clerk's Office at Town Building, 41 Cochituate Road.

If you are still holding onto your vote by mail ballot, please drop it off no later than 8:00 P.M. on September 1, 2026. Earlier is preferred in order to give us time to process on Election Day.

Today, the Town of Wayland celebrated the grand opening of Terrain, located at 297 Boston Post Road with a ribbon cutting. 🌿🎀

This new location includes the full range of Terrain’s offerings, including a home and garden store, all-season nursery, café, event venue and design services.

The grand opening featured remarks by Town Manager Michael McCall, and Terrain Managing Director Beth Smith, followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Representative Carmine Gentile and Representative David Linsky presented Terrain with an official citation from the Massachusetts State Senate honoring their grand opening.

“Terrain’s grand opening is an exciting addition to our community. With a vast range of offerings, Terrain is a unique destination that brings together gardening, dining and a place for the community to gather. We are thrilled to welcome Terrain to Wayland and look forward to seeing them grow and succeed in our community,” stated Town Manager Michael McCall.

“Terrain is about more than shopping—it’s about celebrating the seasons, connecting with nature, and creating spaces that bring people together. We’re thrilled to bring that vision to Wayland and become part of this community.” stated Terrain’s Managing Director Beth Smith.

You may of noticed purple flags at the Public Safety Building and signs around Town. These flags have been displayed in honor of International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, which was organized by the Wayland Opioid Settlement Working Group.

The flags and signs are meant to bring attention to recovery and honor those who have lost their lives to an opioid-related overdose. 💜
