Yesterday, Vance wrote that increasing our national debt by $3.3 trillion (how can supposed conservatives support this?) and ripping away health care from 17 million Americans is ‘immaterial.’ Vance is an example of the dangerous callousness in US politics today, with politicians -- and the people who vote for them -- who do not trouble themselves that everyday people will suffer and die. JD’s statement: “Everything else—the CBO score [the Congressional Budget Office cost estimate], the proper baseline, the minutiae of the Medicaid policy—is immaterial compared to the ICE money and immigration enforcement provisions.”

****SAVE THE DATE AND TIME: Wayland Democratic Town Committee Caucus, Sunday, April 27th, 2:00 p.m.****

The Wayland Democratic Town Committee (WDTC) invites you to the 2025 Caucus to elect delegates to the Massachusetts State Democratic Party convention, which will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 2025 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.

The Caucus will be held in-person at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 27th, 2025, in the Large Conference Room at the Wayland Town Building. The Town Building is located at 41 Cochituate Road, Wayland, Massachusetts 01778. Any Wayland resident registered as a Democrat is eligible to participate, vote, and run for delegate at the Town Caucus.

Anyone interested in being a delegate from Wayland must attend the Caucus in-person. The only exception is for those serving in the U.S. Armed Forces of the US, with prior notice to Co-Chairs via [email protected].

The doors to the Caucus will open by 1:30 pm for registration. Anyone who wants to participate must be in the Large Conference room or already standing in line to be registered by 2:15 pm. Anyone who joins later than 2:15 pm will not be able to vote or run as a delegate.

Gov. Maura Healey is asking for and may get about $300 million from the state to shore up emergency assistance for existing and anticipated residents.

For decades, economic and tax policy have resulted in a transfer of wealth from the poor, the working class and the middle class to wealthiest among us. “Trickle-down” has been nothing more than “trickle-UP”! And the value and purchasing power of paychecks for the “the rest of us” have stagnated, while the “1%” captured an increasing share of total income and wealth.

The truth is that the wealthiest among us simply don’t pay their fair share. In Massachusetts those earning $1 million or more in annual income pay on average about 6% of that in taxes, while the rest of us pay 10-11% on our income! The Fair Share Amendment to the constitution will change that, the wealthiest among us will FINALLY pay the same tax rate we do!

During the past year, State Senator Becca Rausch helped secure In $25,089,000 for our legislative district. For Wayland specifically, this includes:
-- $139,000 for local water infrastructure projects
-- $25,000 for lighting upgrades at the Wayland High School Field House
-- $15,000 for a zoning review to improve outdoor dining access
-- $650,000 for water infrastructure projects in Millis, Norfolk, Sherborn, Wayland, and Wrentham
