Pictures from Spring Valley High School's trip to the WVSSAC State Baseball Tournament.

The Timberwolves fell 12-10 against the Ripley Vikings in a wild game with multiple lead changes and a rain delay.

Caiden Lovejoy went 3-4 with 3 RBIs. Parker Philips had a homerun and 3 RBIs. Cam Perdue and Jack Shumaker had an RBI each.

It wasn't the end we were hoping for, but that doesn't take away from an incredible season.

Congratulations to the players and staff on all of their accomplishments this year.

To our senior players, thank you for representing Wayne County the way you have. We know your future is bright and cannot wait to see what it holds for you.

Yesterday marked the final day inside the halls of Dunlow Elementary School.

Former students, staff, and community members were all invited to tour the halls one last time. Browsing through old year books, revisiting their classrooms, and taking in the memories.

For years, this building has been much more than a school. It has been a place where students learned, grew, and discovered their potential. It has been home to dedicated teachers and staff who poured their hearts into serving children. It has been a gathering place for families and community members who supported one another through celebrations, challenges, and countless memories.

As we say goodbye to this beloved building, we want to thank every student, staff member, parent, grandparent, volunteer, and community supporter who has been part of the Dunlow Elementary story. Your contributions, traditions, and commitment helped create a legacy that will never be forgotten. The memories made within these walls will live on in the lives of the people who walked through its doors.

While it is difficult to close this chapter, we do so with gratitude for the past and excitement for the future. The spirit of Dunlow Elementary is not contained within a building—it lives on through the students, families, educators, and community that continue to make Wayne County a special place to learn and grow.

Here's to honoring the memories, celebrating the legacy, and looking forward to the bright future ahead for Wayne County students.

Ceredo-Kenova Elementary 2025-2026 Career Day!

CFWV encouraged elementary schools to get more involved in career education, which inspired CKES to hold a fun career-oriented day for their students to take part in the state-wide initiative!

Grades K-2 had the opportunity to go around and visit immersive career stations acted out by our Wonderful Kindergarten Team (Mrs. Shreve, Mrs. Holley, Mrs. Morrone and Mrs. Thomspon), Mrs. Jennifer Smith (1st Grade) and Mrs. Julie Dean ( WC School Social Worker) who each played the part of different occupations.

Grades 3-5 will visited 12 to 13 different career stations in the Wonder Dome hosted by community volunteers employed in a variety of interesting and local careers including; trades, public service, health care, and science fields.

Hands-on learning took flight at Wayne High School during the “Cold War Space Race: Mission Control” cross-curricular project!

Juniors in Mrs. Booton’s Contemporary Studies dual credit class and Mrs. Raines’s Algebra 2 Honors dual credit class, many of whom are enrolled in both courses, studied the Cold War Space Race while designing and building rockets in history class.

In math class, students used quadratic equations to model rocket trajectories, predict airtime and maximum height, and analyze rocket performance using real-world data.

The project ended with an exciting launch day where students tested their rockets and compared actual results to their mathematical predictions, bringing history, mathematics, and hands-on STEM learning together in a memorable way.

Mr. Ross concluded his "Jersey Journey" with his students in a ceremony Friday.

An assistant principal in Wayne County took a joke about his sports jersey collection, and turned into teachable moments for the students at his school.

Congratulations to Crum PK-8 teacher Tammy Jarrells for receiving the Hallie Harless Distinguished Teacher Award!

Mrs. Jarrells received a $1,500 ARC Grant for her big win that she will be able to put towards furthering her students education.

If you have a student attending Wayne County Schools, you are eligible to sign up for a weekly meal box every Tuesday during the month of July. You can sign up starting June 2nd, 2026, on the Wayne County Schools website. Sign-ups will be open for one week so we can get the food boxes ordered. Please complete a form for EVERY child you have that attends a Wayne County School. Pickup times will be every Tuesday from 9:00 - 11:00 at Wayne Elementary and Fort Gay PK8 during the month of July only.

Lavalette Elementary School hosted its Spring Art Show today, where families were invited to enjoy the incredible artwork created by our talented students!

It was a wonderful opportunity for families to see firsthand the amazing work happening in our classrooms and celebrate the creativity of their children.

West Edge Factory visited, working alongside students giving them the chance to create a small portion of a 160-foot mural that will be displayed in Huntington!

This exciting project allowed our students to leave their mark on a community art installation and be part of something much bigger than themselves!

A big thank you to art teacher Sarah Burke for this incredible event together for her students and their families.
